  1. thunderbird updates

im not talking about the extensions or the add-on, im talking about the
program itself, why in the last few months to six months has there been
trouble with the update? it just wont update properly, continously failing
to update? maybe it because it of that dreaded .dll that refuses to close
down when required??? something for your developers to think about perhaps

    happens on vista and xp

Personally I don't use auto-upgrade, I reinstall the full distribution every
time and it gives me no hassle. Of course the choice would be harder if I were
on 64k dialup instead of 3M ADSL.

    Best regards,
    Tony.

i rather use the auto-upgrade, less time to install the updates, the only
way i can install this update is to go into safe mode, this is like an art
form trying to get there, as the wrong timing will bring up another menu

The percentage of Internet users in the U.S. who still use dial-up
(about 40%) exceeds the percentage of Web surfers who use Firefox
    (25%-35%).

Some of us prefer to archive updates. The use of archived updates is
not supported. See bug #340330 at

I can only add that I'm using XP Home SP2, and have not encountered any
    problems with the update process.

In another thread regarding this issue, either here or in the FF group,
I recall one poster saying that his anti-virus program was causing the
problem. By temporarily shutting it down, he was able to update TB or
FF, whichever one it was, without trouble.

There has been discussion in the FF group recently, about the
teatimer.exe process, which apparently belongs to Spybot Search &
Destroy, causing a problem with updates, as well.

    Just some thoughts.
