Two different email servers - one does not send messages
Hi- I have two different email accounts, one with earthlink and one with
verizon (it's a temporary situation). I can receive incoming mail from
both accounts and I can send outgoing messages on earthlink. But I can't
send outgoing messages to verizon. When I try, it always asks me to
enter my password for the smtp server, outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net. When
I enter the password, it says that the connection failed and keeps on
repeating the request for my password. I went to
tools-->options-->passwords and viewed my passwords list. I have three
entries, one mailbox for earthlink, one mailbox for verizon and one smtp
entry for earthlink. Shouldn't I also have an smtp entry for verizon?
I checked and rechecked my account settings and they look absolutely
correct. Both smtp servers are listed and assigned to their respective
accounts. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for any help you can provide.

I can only think that the settings for the Verizon SMTP server are not
correct. Not being a Verizon subscriber, I can't help with that.
As a temporary measure, you could send mail for the Verizon account
using the Earthlink SMTP server.

You might try the 0.verizon.email groups (at news.verizon.net ) for help.
If you do, be sure not to cross post to outside groups and whatever you
do, do NOT ask for email help in the other groups or their vicious group
of Net Nannies will hound you to your last day.

You are correct. Verizon SMTP server name is outgoing.verizon.net

Thank you very much. You are correct. I was using my email address as
the username. Verizon only wants the portion of the name before the @
sign. I really appreciate the prompt attention paid to us on this news
group. You guys are the best.
