How To Customize 'Scam' Settings for A Specific Sender
User-Agent : Thunderbird-1.5.0.4
OS : fedora core 5
I have subscribed to BBC daily mail which sends mail everyday from this address
"dailyemail@bbc.co.uk" . Whenever Thunderbird opens this message , it always
shows an alart-bar "Thunderbird thinks this message might be an email scam"
with a button "not a scam" . Even i pressed "not a scam" button to allow it but
thunderbird will ask again on next time when another mail arrives from BBC.
Now the problem is that if i disable " check mail messages for email scam"
option ( Edit > Preference > Privacy > Email Scams ) then this problem will not
occur but other actual Scam messages will not be monitored anymore.
Is there way to allow a particular Sender which will not be monitored anymore by
TB ( just like Junk mail control )?

Thanks clay but actual problem is that my Gmail account somehow get spammed ( or
Scammed ? ) and I have found that TB successfully ( not much ) detect many of
them.

unfortunately, the scam thingy is not trainable; but my understanding
is that they're working on it.

The function of the 'Scam' or anti-phishing feature.
Every time you open a message (Yes Virginia, that's EVERY time)
the message is checked for the presence of the 'Junk' marking or 'Not a
Scam' marking in the headers. If either is found the scan is aborted
(doesnt happen)
If neither is found, then the features looks for two things,
urls that have numerical settings rather than 'names' (i.e 12.12.234.125
instead of www.whateverit.is.com
and / or
the url given in the text doesnt match that in the source (i.e. it says
www.yourbank.security.com in the text but in the source its
www.chinasever.yourbank.security.com)
If either of those two are found, the message is appended with the
"Think this is is an Email Scam" header, which includes the
button.
Clicking on the button does two things. It clears the
'Think its a Scam' banner of course, and adds a header to that specific
message, basically saying "this isnt a scam". So of course, the next
time you open that particular message, the program see's this and doesnt
run the scam scan.
The feature is NOT trainable. It works as above, and ONLY as above, it
cannot be modified. It doesnt 'learn', it doesnt remember. You have the
option to turn it on or turn it off and thats about it.
The feature was designed to at least give users SOME warning of scams.
It wont detect ALL scams, and it has many false positives as well. The
feature is still in its infancy tho.

I wish that, as a bare minimum, "Mark as not a Scam" could be added as a filter
action :-|
