Thread: Please make hyperlinks live in Compose window.

  1. Please make hyperlinks live in Compose window.

We have discussed the issue of making hyperlinks live in the Compose
window in the past, and I had hoped it might be resolved in TB 1.5, but
    it isn't.

Various related bugs have been filed (163017, 176525, 282343) but from
what I can see the issue just seems to be going round in circles, and no
action appears to have been taken recently :-(

If it's that important to you you'll have to find/pay someone to do it.
That's the "crux" with a project such as Mozilla. They have limited
resources, and something like this is clearly way down the list...

    Hi Holger,

yes, I appreciate that, and the issue obviously isn't critical, just one
of these little 'would be nice to have' items, although it does rank
pretty high on my own personal wishlist.

I thought it couldn't do any harm bringing it up here again - who knows,
it might encourage a few people to vote for one or more of the bug
numbers I listed in my previous message (163017, 176525, 282343), and
who knows, more votes might trigger some action :-)

Then you should provide complete links to the bugs in question. People
    are lazy, you know. :-)

Good job you mentioned it, because http://bugzilla.mozdev.org/ doesn't
find anything for these bug numbers, which is odd, because I just looked
    at them this morning!

    Here are the links:

    https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=282343
    https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=163017
    https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=176525

Does this mean that https://bugzilla.mozilla.org and
http://bugzilla.mozdev.org are totally separate entities? Surely not!?

    Yes they are:

    https://bugzilla.mozilla.org -- is for Moz/SM/TB/FF

while http://bugzilla.mozdev.org -- is for the extensions listed at

I personally can't imagine making much use of that feature should it be
    implemented.

Mozilla and Mozdev are completely separate.
Mozilla.org is an independent spin-off from Netscape, which is owned by
    the Time-Warner media empire. Mozdev.org is a spin-off from a company
owned by the O'Reilly publishing mini-empire. The mozilla.org site is
where the core Mozilla source code is developed. The projects hosted on
mozdev.org create applications and add-ons that are based on top of that
    source code.

Both sites (as well as others) use the Bugzilla [1] bug tracking
software, to track bugs in the code they host. A list of other sites
that use Bugzilla to track their bugs can be found here:

    Hi Scott,

rest assured that no-one would force you to use the feature, but I
personally would use it regularly ;-)
