  1. Problems with email sending after upgrade to bugzilla 3.0

    Hello together
I upgraded Bugzilla from 2.22.2 to 3.0 and now email sending is not

I also tried once to downgrade Email-Simple to 1.94 but this didn't

How can I get the mail again working?

Make sure you're not running any antivirus program on the
Bugzilla server--that can stop Bugzilla from sending email.

Also make sure that you have the latest versions of
    Email-Simple and Email-MIME.

Similar situation here, except on Linux instead of Win2000.

I only get the error for a user that no longer exists. The error I get
is: "error when closing pipe to /usr/lib/sendmail:"

    > checksetup runs without problems:

    Yes, here too.

    Max wrote:

    Unfortunately, that didn't help.

    # perl -MCPAN -e 'install Email::MIME'
    CPAN: Storable loaded ok
    Going to read /root/.cpan/Metadata
Database was generated on Sun, 03 Jun 2007 23:08:43 GMT
    Email::MIME is up to date.
    # perl -MCPAN -e 'install Email::Simple'
    CPAN: Storable loaded ok
    Going to read /root/.cpan/Metadata
Database was generated on Sun, 03 Jun 2007 23:08:43 GMT
    Email::Simple is up to date.

Are there other modules I should worry about? Is this a bug, and should
    I file a bug report on bugzilla.mozilla.org?

The really annoying part about this is that the emails are actually sent
    (postmaster gets the bounce messages).

A user that no longer exists? You mean an email address that's
    invalid?

    > Also make sure that you have the latest versions of Email-Simple and
    > Email-MIME.

Right, that wouldn't apply to your situation.

    > Are there other modules I should worry about? Is this a bug, and
    > should I file a bug report on bugzilla.mozilla.org?

    No, I don't think it's a bug. I'd need more information about
what's actually happening on your system.

Yes. The Bugzilla account still exists, but is disabled, and has an
email address that no longer exists.

Let me know what other info you need.

Well, I'd like to know what appears in your mail log on your
server, and I'd like to know what happens when you use sendmail on the
command line to send to one of those nonexistent user.

You can work around the problem by disabling bugmail to that
    person, by the way.

Right, I guess that is the workaround I will use.

  9. Re: Problems with email sending after upgrade to bugzilla 3.0

    Hi,

I didn't see whether the OP's concerns were addressed except in a
suggestion that the anti-virus may need to be disabled. I am
encountering the same problem and am leery about disabling the anti-
virus. Is there any other solution? Is there a way to find out where
things are going wrong - i.e. a more detailed error log?

    Thanks,
    Sridhar

Are your symptoms more like the OP, or more like mine? In any case,
    I've opened this bug:
    https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=383630

My configuration is almost exactly like the OP's. I did a fresh
install of 3.0 (i.e. I didn't have any database to upgrade) though.
checksetup.pl returns no errors (in fact, I have installed all the
    optional modules as well).

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Sridhar

Same issue here, except I'm only seeing the error when trying to send
to an email outside my network.

    For example:

There was an error sending mail from 'bugzilla-daemon@krish' to
    'jakkisisk@gmail.com':Can't send data

When I send the same email to someone internally everything is fine:

    Changes submitted for bug 2
    Email sent to:
    jsisk@.com
    Excluding:
    support@.com

But it gets weirder...If I reassign the bug to one of the failing
email addresses and then try to reassign again to a good email address
I get an error for the previously failed email address:

There was an error sending mail from 'bugzilla-daemon@krish' to
    'jakkisisk@gmail.com':Can't send data

I've tried sending to two different otherwise good email addresses on
both IE and Firefox (clearing cache and cookies on both and exiting
the browser completely) and no luck, same error every time.

    Any thoughts?

    Jakki

My first guess is that your mail server needs SMTP Auth for relaying
mails which Bugzilla is not capable of at the moment.

    > But it gets weirder...If I reassign the bug to one of the failing

If I'm guessing right the second error is as expected, because the old
assignee of the bug would have got a message about reassignment. The
first reassignment should also result in an error message, though,
because the new assignee of the bug is again an extern mail adress.
