SeaMonkey mail notification
Hello
I have SeaMonkey check my mailbox every 10 minutes; if it dowloads
anything new it puts a little notification icon in the taskbar and plays
me a sound.
But if all the new stuff is junk and filtered by my killfiles or the
Bayesian filter, when I go to look the numbers show there is nothing new
in the inbox.
So I empty Trash and Undesirables (not sure what that's called in
English) - but the icon still doesn't go away until I actually open the
Inbox.
Any way to modify this behaviour? - like only notify if something new
is actually kept in the Inbox.
Regards
Christophe

mine disappears when I click anywhere within the account. I
could click on some folder I created, and it disappears.
Even if I click on the trash can it disappears. I don't
know about the junk folder cause I don't have one.

Thanks for your reply. Even though it doesn't solve my problem I now
understand it better.
I have several mail accounts within the same profile: private,
business, _very_ private ;-) ...and of course 'Local Folders'.
All junk mail for any account is moved to 'Junk' or 'Trash' in Local
Folders. I like to just glance at what has been filtered because my
filters are draconian so I get a small percentage of false positives.
(This isn't so illogical as it seems because my message size limit is
set at 10k - so I only get a bit more than the headers, and then once a
week I delete everything I don't want directly on the server without
downloading it.)
So even if I empty these Junk/Trash local folders, it doesn't clear the
notification for the account the mails originally arrived in: I have to
open that to clear it.

Christophe
