Thread: In SM 1.0.7 Sort direction marker in column headers?

  1. In SM 1.0.7 Sort direction marker in column headers?

Is there any way of getting SM 1.0.7 to display the little
triangle/delta/arrowhead indicator in the column heading on
a screen. It indicated both which criterion the list/screen
was ordered by and also the ascending/descending order of
    the sort.
This feature was available in NS 7.1

Mine does. Unless I don't get what you mean.
e.g. If I sort by Date there's a triangle up or down next to the Date
    heading.

I see the sort direction indicator but I think it appeared just
    after I've installed Mnenhy .

Hmmm. I do notice that your User-Agent description is:
    User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8.0.9)
    Gecko/20061211 SeaMonkey/1.0.7

    User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.8.0.9) Gecko/20061211
    SeaMonkey/1.0.7
    i.e. you're using a Macintosh.
But maybe it's something in my set up.
I hope that someone with a WIN 98 system (like snagglepuss) will butt in
with an answer. snagglepuss wrote that he has NS 4.x, NS 7.1, and SM 1.0.7
all three running on his Win 98 system.

Got a screenshot? I've got SM1.0.7+Mnenhy0.7.4, and I see no sort
indicator in either the Classic or Modern theme.
Although it would be a great feature. :-)

Snagglepuss has morphed into Peter Potamus :-D

Anyways, just click on the column and you should see the little
triangle, which is to the right of that column.

interesting! After Chris I's post, I switched profiles using the
default themes, and the triangle is not there. It must be theme
related. I'm using Sailfish's ToyFactory -- best theme around, imo:
    http://projectit.com/freestuff.html#toyfactory

another interesting! Thunderbird's default theme has those triangles.

Is this something lost in the upgrade, as Im still using SM 1.0.6 and
clicking on the Subject column heading brings up an arrowhead and
clicking again changes the direction (Up/Down).

But that's just it. I posted because my system isn't showing that
    little triangle.
So what do I need to do to fix it.
(By the way, based on your assurances about SM being able to
coexist in harmony with NS 7.1, as you can see, I have taken
the plunge and installed SM. I am now trying to harmonize the
two products, customize my SM, and switch away from NS 7.1.
Not everything is going so smoothly, especially with: bookmarks,
    address books, toolbars, plugins ...
Looks like I'll be posting a lot for the next little while)

look for a theme that has them. The default themes for SM don't have them.

I don't know what you mean by "harmony." What I said is SM and Net each
have their own profiles. They don't share anything.

for bookmarks, just copy the file bookmarks.html from one profile to the
    other.

for address books, just copy the 2 files of *.mab .

Plugins -- just copy everything from the Net plugin directory which is
located in the Net program directory and copy it over to the SM plugin
directory which is located in the SM program directory.

Toolbars -- I don't know what you mean by that.

related. My theme, ToyFactory, has them.

What I asked about was code modules which might have the same names but
different content. i.e. conflict. or registry entries that conflict etc.
Once you indicated that you had both available to run, even if not
    concurrently, then I felt reassured.

My problems have to do with attempts to combine Bookmarks and address books
set up by the initialization of SM with the old NS files. Installation
of SM did not leave those files blank/empty.

One of the items on my private toolbar sets up a hidden data area, perhaps
points to a cookie, with parameters for the page that it calls up. The
bookmarks set up by SM get a personal toolbar set up / imported from
somewhere which include that item, but not a copy of or pointer to the
    secret data area.
