1) When chmem is greater that 80000000 bytes and ROOT types "xdm" at
the command prompt --- Xorg presents a large white rectangular login
box asking for name and password. When Root and Root Password is
typed X-Windows rejects them and won't start.
2) When chmem is at 50000000 bytes and ROOT types "xdm" at the command
prompt --- Xorg presents a half full screen that shows a beautiful
picture of an area in Amstrerdam. The other half of the screen is
filled with an ugly large gray login box. At the top of the ugly login
box it says' "Welcome to 10.0.0.1" and below this is is an area for
typing in login name and password. The login and password works here
and Xorg boots.
All I really want to know is this: Which is the right GUI? Perhaps
someone can explain what's happening here.
