  1. Network cards

I have Compaq NC 3121 network card with Intel SB 82558B chipset. It
    isn't supported in
Minix3 althought it is from FXP chipset's group. I 've made trial to
    substitute it with 82559 in
fxp.c as it was told here for 82550 chipset but it doesn't help.

    I' ve got the message:
    fxp_set_timer: calling sys_setalarm for 148 (now+60)
    0:16,1:8,2:0,3:0,4:0,5:0,6:32,7:2,8:1,9:0,10:2e,11 :0,12:60,13:0,14:f2,15:48,16:0,17:40,18:f2,

    fxp#0: hardware ethernet address: 00:08:c7:b2:8d:c9
    fxp#0: link down
    Starting daemons: update cron syslog.
    Starting networking: dhcpd nonamed.
    Alarm call
Unable to obtain an IP address

Is there any way to overcome this situation?

My guess is that there is something wrong with the network cable/connection.
