  1. Great Information Security Admin Job in Fresno California

I am looking for a Security Adminstrator for a large hospital with good
background in the healthcare industry. Administrator will help guide
    the
security efforts in applications, desktops, networks by working with
each of the teams and keeping abreast with the latest viruses, patches,
threats, products etc. Project management skills along with good
customer service skills and a friendly attitude is very important for
this position. This is a very high interaction postion so this
individual should have excellent communications skills and good
experience in writing policies and procedures.
This position will require monitoring of systems, reports, audits and
follow up on breaches. A good understanding of complexities of hospital
environment or healthcare systems is preferred. Environment over all
    is
a mixture of HP-UX , netware and windows but the Admin should have a
thorough knowledge on the windows side. On the networking side it is
mainly Cisco shop so a good understanding of Cisco Products is highly
    desirable.
This is a full time position with great benefits and competitive salary
in Fresno California with a very progressive hospital. Please send me
your resume or if you have any questions feel free to call me back.
If at this time this is not a good fit for you please feel free to send
this job description to somebody who might be a good fit and let them
call me or send me a recommendation.
    Thanks

HP-SUX? You mean HP-SUX is actually still in production use in places?
Ye gods, what's next -- COBOL?

Perhaps this would have been better posted somewhere less geographically
    neutral?

Its currently in a pile that contains such illustrious titles as:

    C for Dummies
    DOS for Dummies
    Cobol for Students (IIRC)
    Expert guide to Windows 98

    ....and last but not least,

Computer Science ver. 4 (a textbook for a HNC Computing course I did a
few years ago) - read the 1* review of it here for a good laugh !

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0826454607

I`m hoping they might be of use to the daughter of a colleague who wants
to learn more than a Windows GUI and get into programming.

Although practically useless as a modern reference book, Computer Science
covers the rock bottom basics of bits, bytes, binary, and has some simple
code and coding problems that can help you "think" about programming in a
    step by step way.

And yes, before you ask, i've already suggested linux, both as a
removeable HD in a caddy, and a self booting CD such as knoppix (which,
while not ideal as a programming environment, is good for letting users
feel their way around an "alien" operating system in complete safety)
