  1. default printers

    Hello.
I have two questions regarding printers in a windows-based network.
The users log on to a domain. Clients and server are win2000.

For various users i would like to achieve any of the following, i have not
managed to do it and thus ask for help.

    1. Have the last used printer to become standard.
    example:
if the user manually selects to print to PrinterX, then PrinterX should stay
default until the user selects some other printer. (it should stay default even
if user prints from various applications).

    2. Make a printer standard depending on which computer the user is login in to.
    example:
if the user logs in from second floor, s/he will get Printer2.
if the user logs in from third floor, s/he will get Printer3.

    thank
    stig

  2. Re: default printers

    2 things
On the print server go to printers and properties and make the printer you
want as the default printer. It will then be used in all applications on that
machine for printing as the default printer.
Within an application you can select another printer and that will remain in
force until you quit the application - doesnt matter where on the network that is.
