updates in system tray - Mandriva

    i wish to see notifications of updates in system tray. am using
    mandriva 2009, kde 3.5.10.
    when i run the mdkupdate applet via terminal it doesn't show up in the
    system tray although I think it is running. what can i do about this?

    When you bring up kde, it starts the applet if you have not disabled it.
    It should show up if updates are available otherwise it does not rest
    in the system tray.

    You can click up terminal and run top

    If they have not fixed it, it should pop up in "top" several times a
    minute looking to see if three hours have passed and if so, check for
    updates.

    its funny though, after i posted this, am receiving update
    notifications in system tray, the icon appears thanks!
