Either go back to 2008.1 or bite the bullet and run kde4.

I'm running kde 3.5.10 and transparency is working for kicker if I activate
it. What can be done about this? Hmm.. well, everything for kde 3 has been
moved to /opt/kde3 you may wish to compare the contents between
/usr/share/apps/kicker and the newer /opt/kde3/share/apps/kicker folders. My
current issues are clicking on samba in kcontrol causes a crash and
selecting kdm theme manager does not bring up anything. I saved a ghost
backup of my 2008.1 system so I may go back to that, I'm not yet sure.

    Good Luck,
    Thai
