Thread: No updates for rc1

  1. No updates for rc1

I downloaded rc1. Since I have only an ADSL1 connection, I would prefer to
    wait for the final release.

I am seeing no updates for rc1, but others are seeing updates for rc2. I
seem to recall that both are simply "cooker" and I should be upgraded to
current rc2, and when the final release is out, I will still be seeing
cooker as at that date. Or am I wrong?

How sad, RC2 has been out for awhile.

Yes, BUT, last two days have had some kde4 bad signatures from the mirror I
    am using.

Try this from a root terminal
    urpmi --wget --auto-update --auto

    > seem to recall that both are simply "cooker"

Mirror would be cooker regardless of alphaX, betaX, rcX

    > and I should be upgraded to current rc2,

Lots of fixes. so I would update, ASSUMING, those three kde4* files
get fixedif not my mirror problem.

You might consider looking at View bugs reported today on
    https://qa.mandriva.com/index.cgi

Once there you can click Edit Search, scroll down and enter something like
20080910 in the Bug Changes box and check the last 30 days of bugs.

If update, you will still be running cooker and will need to
delete/add Official mirrors. Otherwise you would be upgraded
    to 2009.1 :-(

I have set a cron job to tell me to download the 2009.0 free cd
    on the 9'th.

Thanks. That gave me 616 updates. But:
    (a) The initial run repeatedly said it couldn't access my CDs because of
permission problems. The CD device was owned by me and CDwriter, and I
couldn't see why it wanted the CDs anyway. After a logout that was fixed.
    (b) Even then, the graphical MCC could see nothing.

    (c) The automatic download was stopped when a flash package had no
checksum, sig or whatever. No "Do you want to continue?" By then, a couple
of upgrades of the tools had gone through, but I didn't try graphical
again. It is 02:00 here, and I should be asleep.

Cooker does not have any "updates", all of the new stuff goes into
"release" directories. The real releases use "update" directories
and leave the "release" directories alone.

To use the cooker release directories as update media; edit
/etc/urpmi/urpmi.cfg by hand, or start mcc with "--expert", or
delete and re-add all the repositories every day.
