  1. Can't run xawtv on 2008 Spring

    I have a bttv video card in my Pentium P4 computer. I have used this
    card in the past with xawtv. It has always worked well for me.

    I haven't used xawtv for a while and since then I've installed about
    two versions of Madriva. I think the last time I had xawtv running was
    on 2007.. I'm running 2008 Spring right now. I installed the xawtv rpm
    from the 2008 Spring DVD.

    xawtv won't run. It seems it can't find fonts. (See bottom of
    this post for terminal output and a list of the fonts I have
    installed).

    I tried kdetv and it does run properly so the actual video portion
    of the kernel and my nVidia display are functioning correctly.

    The problem is that I prefer xawtv over kdetv. Has anyone had this
    problem and if so, how did you get xawtv to run?

    What are your settings shown by the locale command? Also, try installing more
    of the x11 fonts.

    If you don't have xfs installed (the old X11 font server), you should
    install it.

    xawtv is an old program. There are better applications today. Try tvtime.
