  1. Tried to install 2007 spring from a sata dvd drive

I tried to install 2007 spring x86_64 to my wife machine using dvd and cd
media. In both cases her computer would just hangup with a black screen
    after selecting the install option.

The machine is an AMD_64 +4800 x2 with one sata hd and sata dvd-writer
    drive.

I just install the sata dvd drive a couple week ago an it seen to be
    working just fine.

any ideas in how to fix this problem?

I had similar problem - on a laptop with SATA drive. Take a look at:

Does the 32 bit version x86 boot OK?

Have you tried to add the boot options "pci=nomsi irqpoll noapic acpi=off"?
That was needed on my machine.

Which Chipset? AMD 690G? If so: How much RAM? 4GB or more? If 4GB or more:
    add "mem=3000M".

The Powerpack 2007.1 DVD installed just fine on my AMD-64 dualcore
5000+ x2 system (nVidia nForce 410 motherboard) with two SATA hd
and an IDE Sony DVD. If you are getting an initial screen with the
install option, your system is reading your SATA DVD, though, so
that should not be the problem.

Check settings in the BIOS, check the md5sum on the DVD, and maybe
check connections between DVD and motherboard/power supply inside
    the case.

Odd question: CD media? I do not think CDs are available for 2007.1
as yet. Did you burn the DVD onto a CD disk?

    Cheers!

Put your mouse over the cd1,2,3 links and you will see they are for 2007.0

The DVD appearing at the top of the page is 2007.1 (Spring 2007). Everything
else on the page is 2007.0, bearing the name 2007.

You may wish to take this into consideration when selecting mirrors for
    updates, etc.

    Cheers!
