  1. Anyone have issues with latest 2007.1 Updates?

Last Sunday evening I checked the updates for Mandriva Spring. There
were several available. After downloading and installing I logged out,
restarted X and logged back in. My GUI was trashed. On my dual LCD
monitor setup the Number 2 monitor was a garbled mess of colored pixels.
The Number 1 monitor was usable, but had been reset to 800x600. At
around 1:00AM I gave up trying to get my 512Mb nVidia GeForce 7600
graphics card configured. Monday afternoon I reinstalled Mandriva
Spring. Checked the updates and spotted a kernel update. Installed it
by itself and restarted. The same GUI problem occurred. Reinstalled
again and left the updates alone. Anybody else have any issues like this?

I had this problem with the kernel updates. So I unticked the box to
download and update it but kept all of the rest of the available updates.
After the usual mess of messages I now have an updated system.

Incidentally, I have found that after installing the free pascal rpm from
the freepascal site, Mandriva tries to update it to fpc 2.11. However,
there isn't a source package available as well so I leave that out of my
update schedule as well. I screws up my Lazarus app!

    Cheers,

    Tim.

You are, presumably, using the non-free nvidia driver, in which case you
need to update the kernel-source-stripped package whenever you update the
kernel. You may have to comment it out in /etc/urpmi/skip.list to get it to
show up as an available update. (The implemetation of "automatic" kernel
updates is not very efficient in 2007 Spring.) The theory is described
    here:

    http://wiki.mandriva.com/en/Releases...Kernel_updates

The "bug" is described here, in item 10.9:

I think you mean "5.25 MandrivaUpdate ignores skip.list (selecting packages
it should not select)". A new rpmdrake package is supposed to fix this.

Yes. I don't know if I mis-typed or if the page was updated after I made the
post. That page is subject to constant revision as bug fixes are released.
