If anybody feels that I'm posting too much or am too OT or anything like
that, please say so. I've been trying to keep the discussion at least
computer-related and of interest to at least some portion of the
readership. My theory is that for almost every question anyone asks,
there are other people who have the same question but just haven't
posted it yet (or will be searching Google groups for it in the future),
so each answer reaches way beyond the OP.

First, its an alt. group, so there really are not any rules, except those
that apply to all of usenet. Posting off topic can be considered abuse
on the net, not abuse of the net. Anyone who doesn't like abuse on the
net, is free to killfile the "abusers". Abuse of the net (spamming,
flooding, etc), should be reported to the abusers isp.
Big difference between abuse on the net, and abuse of the net.
Second, without these threads, the #1 topic would now be the weekly
statistics. Everyone seems to have moved to alt.os.linux.mandriva,
as I expected would happen. This group is effectively dead, except
for the old timers, who are still subscribed to both.
In other words, don't worry about it.
Regards, Dave Hodgins

Change nomail.afraid.org to ody.ca to reply by email.
(nomail.afraid.org has been set up specifically for
use in usenet. Feel free to use it yourself.)

Thanks, Dave. I know that each NG has its own expectations about
off-topic content, which I try to follow. I've seen them ranging from
one extreme to the other.

I've noticed other people joining in the thread(s) I've started here in
a.o.l.mandrake, so they're obviously of interest to at least some of the
other members. And no complaints about being off-topic, so far.

Yes, I figured that would happen too. In fact, I'm going to move the
"Ethernet Printer Connection" thread from here to a.o.l.mandriva.

Thanks! I was worrying, just a little. I know I'll be asking a lot
more questions (and, I hope, occasionally providing answers), and I
don't want anyone to automatically ignore any post with my name on it.
