The slopware is out of control - but as long as it's not Windows it's OK by
Linux lusers.

I'm yet to see you post one single "advocacy" post. Lots of hot air
about how evil MS is and how you want to copy every one's ideas for free
but very little explanation as to how you actually use Linux and why it
out performs Windows for your birthday card business.

Please provide evidence I want to copy everyone's ideas for free. I
merely state that my ideas should be my ideas and nobody else's.

Then you're not paying attention. I've said a number of times our email
exchange is a linux solution, as is our gateway - neither of which I
have to visit 2/3 times a week for maintenance/upgrade, they just work.
Does exactly what it says on the tin. And when samba 4 hits usable
status, so will our PDC.

No you dont. You have clearly stated that thee ideas should be "free"
for everyone else to use.

Yes. So what. They're IDEAS. It's the IMPLEMENTATION of those ideas that
should be protected. And that's exactly what copyright does.
Next you'll be proposing that oxygen should be owned.

That must be the quickest about turn in COLAs history.
And you still seem to be confused as to WHY peoples ideas are valuable
and as to how a BIG COMPANY can implement an idea they steal much
simpler, quicker and with mush less comparative risk than the small
company who came up with the idea in the first place.

An idea cannot be stolen any more than an atom can be. An implementation
could be stolen, but then that would be breach of copyright.

There's no turnaround mate, you're clutching at straws again.

And you are still failing to understand the extraordinarily simple
premise that big companies can afford armies of lawyers and thousands of
patents. Small companies are lucky if they can afford to get the patent,
and have got almost no chance at all to afford defending it in court.
Thus rendering the "for the small guy" argument the bollocks it is. Fact
of life that more and more analysts are now beginning to recognise.
Big companies will always try to stomp on little companies if they
encroach on their core markets. Best chance for the small company to
survive and grow is to take the whole patent issue out of the equation
entirely. Either way, the big company will end up supplying the
invention anyway, by crushing the small guy in court or forcing a cross
license. Difference is with a patent regime the small company stumps up
$millions defending its patents.
The only way a patent benefits a small company is if they are in an
industry where it is unlikely that the big competitors they're likely to
run into haven't got a patent portfolio that can be used back. The
software industry does not fit this profile.

Yet another twitchy rant -- priceless.
Anyway, the dude above, who noted that most of his 2 Gb (ignore his
typo) is used up is making a common mistake that Windows users new to
Linux make, about memory usage.
Hell, I've got 4 Gb on this machine, and it has 3.95 Gb "used" at the
moment, after 162 days of being up. But everything is running fine.
