The 168 pin simms will not fit the slots.....

My understanding is that 16Mx36 (64M) modules (54-24123-AA) are the
limit. In my 21164/ev5 (XLT-300), I utilize 4x64 in bank-0.

The memory config for the Alphastation 600 required 8 simms per bank, there
were two memory risers/towers 4 chips would go in each. So in other words a
successful 128MB upgrade would have meant 8 x 16MB chips. The total
supported memory maximum was 1GB meaning 4 fully loaded 256MB banks or
32x16MB chips.
I think 2 x 256MB chips would be unlikely to work.
