Red Hat 2Q profit surges on Linux demand
Open-source software maker Red Hat Inc. said Tuesday fiscal second-
quarter earnings rose sharply, driven by higher revenue from
subscriptions for its Linux operating software.
Net income in the quarter ended Aug. 31 rose 65 percent to $18.2
million, or 9 cents per share, from $11 million, or 5 cents, in the
Earnings adjusted to exclude items increased to $36.9 million, or 17
cents per share, from $24.5 million, or 12 cents, a year earlier.
