  1. kppp error 1

I'm running kde 3.2 on debian sarge, when I try to dialup I get the
    following error message:
Mar 17 15:48:54 localhost pppd[1462]: The remote system is required to
    authenticate itself
    Mar 17 15:48:54 localhost pppd[1462]: but I couldn't find any suitable
secret (password) for it to use to do so.
Mar 17 15:48:54 localhost pppd[1462]: (None of the available passwords would
let it use an IP address.)
    Any help please.

Fixed the problem using pppconfig and using gkrellm to login and logoff
    with.

I use wvdial via konsole myself. I must fix kppp sometime.

just open a shell, and as root type in wvdial assuming you set it up, it
    will connect to anything.

I did install wvdial with that intention but Gkrellm works so well I don't
think I would bother with kppp even if it did work now.
I don't know about wvdial but if you haven't tried Gkrellm, then give it a
go, there are a range of other functions you can do with it as well.
