    You can't 'delete' messages.. They'll always exist on your news server
    and in KNode's cache..

    The only option you have is to go into the 'filter' and choose 'show
    unread messages'. (This will hide the read messages).

    If your view is set to 'Show unread messages', then all you have
    to do is select 'View' -> 'Refresh List' and the message list
    will refresh and hide the read ones..

    Or you can just hit the shortcut key (F5)
