  1. Job Logs being displayed for all users

Over the weekend we upgraded from an 9406-860 AS400 to a new Series i
    515. We also went from V5R3 to V5R4. It is amazing the speed
difference. It was well worth the upgrade.

On our old system when a user did a WRKSPLF (Work Spool File), it did
not display their job logs. On the new system it shows all of their
job logs and it's confusing to my users.

Does anyone know what I can do to basically hide them so they don't
see them. The system cleanup removes them after a time, but it's not
every night. I can see the job logs when I look at the Printer Output
in iSeries Navigator. So I can look at them if necessary.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Scott

Look first at the system value for Assistance Level; WRKSYSVAL
QASTLVL. The setting is likely *INTERMED or *ADVANCED instead of
*BASIC. The special value *BASIC limits the list of spool files; filtering
    http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infoce...akzqastlvl.htm

Presumably for the users, the default for CRTUSRPRF had established
ASTLVL(*SYSVAL) [Assistance Level redirects to System Value], but the
system value QASTLVL is something other than *BASIC.
    http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infoce.../crtusrprf.htm

Second, since WRKSPLF defaults to ASTLVL(*PRV), issue ?WRKSPLF and
pressing F9 to review the default for that parameter. If the system
value is corrected, I believe any user that has already issued WRKSPLF
will continue to see the /previous/ assistance level. Perhaps it would
be necessary to reset the default for the users [that have already
invoked and seen other than *BASIC], by temporarily changing the command
default to *BASIC or probably *USRPRF; long enough for each user to
visit the /basic view/ of WRKSPLF. Note: Users could be told to use
CHGPRF to adjust their preference [if capabilities allow].
    CHGCMDDFT QSYS/WRKSPLF 'ASTLVL(*USRPRF)'
    http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infoce...cl/wrksplf.htm

If neither of those are the source of a change, then I would suspect
possibly the migration path was either in error or was custom, such that
CRTUSRPRF was used instead of RSTUSRPRF was used.

  3. Re: Job Logs being displayed for all users

Awesome! All I did was change the QASTLVL to *basic after everyone
had gone home, and when they signed on this morning, "POOF!", they
    didn't see the job logs.

Thank you so much for your help.
