btw, the S chassis is on sale. the price is reduced by $600 and $1100.

what is the difference between the 88861MU S chassis and the 8886E1U S
chassis? The specs posted online are identical.

    thanks,

    okay;
    88861MU

    - First 4 (four) digits Model Number; as for this Bladecenter S yoou
    have 3 (Three) models; 1948, 7779, and 8886... OK??

now we come to the 1MU and the E1X...
E1X: comes standard with ONE storage modulle and ONE Switch module,
    FOUR Power Modules

1MU: NO storage module, NO switch module, and TWO power modules

    That is all...

    this did help, thanks.

to run the JS12 blade you need:
    BCS ( bladecenter S ) chassis ( $1900 )
    3212 gigabit ethernet switch ( $2400 )
    3267 SAS connectivity module ( $1000 )
    4545 disk storage module ( $800 )
    4548 power supply ( $300 )

if the BCS 8886E1U comes with an ethernet switch, disk storage module
and power supply, the additional $1400 is actually a good savings.

    the JS12 blade itself
    http://www-03.ibm.com/systems/bladec...799860xbi.html
comes with an "SAS expansion card".

Is the SAS expansion card the same as the 3267 SAS connectivity
    module?

the built in virtualization ( PowerVM ) ... is that 5773-PVS Power VM
    STD E, price $300 ??

    thanks,
