  1. rp8420 DIMM Layout

I'm trying to figure out what I have in what slot on a rp8420.

I know the memory in each cell, and the MP shows:

    DIMM 0 . . . 4 . . . 8 . . .12 . . .
    Cell0 * * * * * * * * * * * * 24G = 12x2g
    Cell1 * * * * * * * * * * * * 24G = 12x2g
    Cell2 * * * * * * * * * * * * 24G = 12x2g
    Cell3 * * * * 2G = 4x512m

According to documentation, the dimm slots are to be installed:

On each cell board, Memory Quads must be installed in the following
    order:
    1st (0A, 0B, 1A, 1B), 2nd (2A, 2B, 3A, 3B), 3rd (4A, 4B, 5A, 5B), 4th
    (6A, 6B, 7A, 7B)

So how is it the MP/CM/PS output shows 0-16 and to equate that to 0A
    0B etc etc.?

Is there any command like the opensource meminfo for Solaris that will
just print out the dimm locations and sizes for me?

  2. Re: rp8420 DIMM Layout

    Try this:
diagnosticsif you have diags loaded just c&p command it will run a few
minutes this will report all your hardware.)
diagnostics has a logtool report , but I forget the exact use.

    echo "selall\ninformation;wait\ninfolog\ndone\nexit\nok" | /usr/sbin/cstm
    >cstm.out

cstm.out will list all hardware and for memory will also show memory
    inventory by cell/cabinet.

    hope this helps.
