"java" binary exec()s PA_RISC2.0/java - HP UX

This is a discussion on "java" binary exec()s PA_RISC2.0/java - HP UX ; I've installed JRE versin 1.4.2_09 on my HP-UX 11.11 box. But whenever I run "java" it runs bin/PA_RISC2.0/java . I run "javac" and it starts up "bin/PA_RISC2.0/javac". Is this something normal with HP-UX? Thanks for all the replies....

    Ok... call me obtuse, but what's strange about that? I'm not terribly
    in the mood to track down the file location defaults for Java, but
    my *guess* is that you're confused by the PA_RISC2.0 in the path?
    Remember that PA_RISC2.0 has nothing to do with the Java version -
    PA_RISC2.0 is the machine architecture of your 11.11 box (as opposed
    to PA-RISC1.0 or 1.1 or Itanium Processor Family). This is like
    seeing a cross-platform app run out of foo\x86_64\bin on a PC, if
    it helps any.
