Re: MPE system problem - help!
One answer is you could have run out of disc space on the System Volume
Set, so it can't open a file big enough for someone to log in.
It would also explain the slowness.

Re: MPE system problem - help!
BTW- What application are you running on the HP3000?
-------
Yes, you must shutdown and start the system without the sysstart file
AT THE ISL > START NORECOVERY NOSYSSTART
Then look at system logs LOG####.PUB.SYS
PURGE LOG####.PUB.SYS
PURGE NMLG####.PUB.SYS
Store and purge all spoolfiles
FILE T;DEV=TAPE
STORE @.OUT.HPSPOOL;SHOW This will give you a list of the spoolfiles
by number if you need to recover them.
Store the spoolfiles last as you will need the space to run your job
=========
There may be other files ou there such as leftover Suprtool files that
creat "OUTPUT" files
listf OUTPUT@.@.your production account,2
Maybe old cognos files as well..
Rid yourself of the junk files..

Re: MPE system problem - help!
Thanks to all for your help.
Things seem to be normal now. It was a telnet issue. Aborting and
restreaming JINETD.NET.SYS seems to have fixed things. I don't have a
clue what happened yesterday to cause the problem.

Bonnie,
I would need to know some more information.* Like MPE/iX version, NMMAINTversions, etc.
SHOWME
NMMAINT
Here are some suggestions I would start with...
1) Is disc space low?* DISCFREE C, or more likely "DISCFREE c,,mpexl_system_volume_set"
2) Network buffers full?
NETTOOL.NET.SYS --> RESOURCE --> DISPLAY
3) Network errors?
LINKCONTROL @,a
4) Is a printer running 'hot'
SHOWDEV LP
STARTSPOOL LP
OPENQ @
If you post the output of the above commands, we may have a better shot of helping you.
Good Luck,
-Craig
