Scott,

I hear you, but the combined total of the MPEXL_SYSTEM_VOLUME_SET is going to be 11 Gb ! Only the boot files MUST be on LDEV=1. According to the MPE 6.5 install manual:
LDEV 1 requires a minimum capacity of 500 MBytes. As of Release 5.0, you cannot use the
older HP7933 or HP7935 disk drives as LDEV 1 (the system disk).
AND later in the preparation instructions
:BUILD AXLDEV1.PUB.SYS;DISC=120000,1,1;DEV=1 (or 30,720,000 bytes)
:BUILD AXLSPACE.PUB.SYS;DISC=787000,32,32 (or 201,472,000 bytes)
for a grand total of 232,192,000 bytes.
AND
in another section of the same manual, peak disk space sectors required for SLT, FOS, and full SUBSYS are 4,111,000 (or 1,052,416,000 bytes), not all of which needs to be on LDEV 1, but will all fit on LDEV 1
Also, I have an even older system with only 1 disk drive, which is 1.8 Gb, and it has 1/2 of this as free space with full 6.0 plus all patches.
