  1. HP keyboard issue SK-2565

I have this rather old keyboard but I like it because it has rotary
volume knob, a feature virtually nonexistient plus blue light up
buttons. Problem is since a complete reformat of my PC I can't
configure any of the buttons. The keyboard control panel does not
show button option. Any button I press not related to CD/MP3 control
or sleep button leads me to
    http://redirect.paviliondownload.com...en/config1.htm

I contacted HP and the moron there were scratching their head and
suggested I use restore CD. I could use my restore CD except there's
number of problem starting with it has only Win ME, disk content can't
be dismantled just for the keyboard control panel, and the disk
refuses to work on my PC because the only original HP part left of the
Pavilion 933 I had is the keyboard. (maybe the power cord too but that
    doesn't affect the CD anyway)

Any of you know where I can dig up the HP Multimedia driver for
SK-2565 that offers custom button controls? The driver I found is
just the driver, no control panel support.

    TIA

I assume you are not using the preinstalled OS. If so, and HP does not
provide the keyboard software for the OS you are now using you might be SOL.

I'm using Win Xp, dumped ME (the pre-installed OS) when XP first came
out simply because I cant stand ME. However I was able to use the
keyboard control panel until recent reformatting and I don't remember
how I got that control panel in the first place. The last time I did
a full and clean reformat was about 2 years ago around the time SP2
    pack came out.

I would rather spend the rest of my life coding Linux based OS to run
on ENIAC than to touch Win ME again. IMO Win ME is like the Edsel of
    the OS.

Update: turns out both HP search and Google search were being stupid.
I can understand HP search showing me 10,000 hits for marketing
details and such and not mention driver or downloads but Google
missing the target is a rare event for me.

A different search engine pointed me to

which has the required downloadable file to get the control panel to
    show customizeable button functions.

Good! I was beginning to suspect problems with the power cord. At least you
    got it solved.

HP's own search is pretty crippled.

Nice characterization of Windows ME, though... Ben Myers

I must agree about WinME. It's the worst OS MS ever produced. Total garbage.
Of the 9X Win OSs, 98SE is the one to have.
