I'm just curious why my HP50g won't reduce 81^(1/3)+24^(1/3)+192^(1/3)
to 9*3^(1/3)? Am I missing something?

The 50 really likes converting things to factors of e and ln. It
won't auto simplify powers with values of e and ln. If I remember
right from when I was struggling with this a long time ago, the
general steps for reducing this type of problem is to use the REWRITE
menu. I hope you aren't using choose menus and using RPN or this is
quite a long procedure.

LS-6 (left shift), F4 (REWRITE menu), NXT, SIMPLIFY, NXT, NXT,
EXP2POW, EVAL

This will do some autosimplifcation, change the values of LN and E
into powers, then it will reduce.
