    Hi folks,

    i'm a newbie to linux and a customer of mine has a linux redhat server
    which had been running very hot, from this the hard drive fails to boot
    with a mbr failure,

    can i restore this form a disk bearing in mind the server has never had
    a backup done.

    if not can i recover the data.

    Use a recovery disk to boot (frequently your install CD works - if you
    don't have a RedHat one, try booting from a Knoppix CD -
    www.knoppix.net), then re-install grub, assuming the disk is still in
    working order. If the disk isn't working and you want to recover the
    data, there are data recovery services that can tackle the job.
