Hello all;

I have three web sites where I can log in via ssh using a program called
Putty. I set up a crontab job (to save the logfiles) on each site and set
the MAILTO option to send me the output of the commands. The MAILTO option
worked on 2 of the sites but not the 3rd -- I got nothing. I was fiddling
with one of the other sites and somehow *broke* the MAILTO option on it as

Therefore, I have three crontab jobs and the MAILTO option only works on one
of them. I have checked and double-checked format, spelling, syntax, etc.,
etc.; totally deleted the crontab job and re-created it, tried different
email addresses, and on, and on, and on. BTW, all 3 jobs run just fine as I
can do an "ls" command on the xxx directory and see that the files are being

Did some searching on google, but could not find anything definitive. Have
also contacted ISP, but not much help there. Here's what my crontab job
looks like:

-bash-2.05b$ crontab -l
# DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE - edit the master and reinstall.
# (/tmp/crontab.12674 installed on Sat Oct 23 19:18:34 2004)
# (Cron version -- $Id: crontab.c,v 2.13 1994/01/17 03:20:37 vixie Exp $)

# for testing of MAILTO -- ensure it sends output to me...
#*/1 * * * * date
*/1 * * * * cp -v logs/access.log xxx/access_`date '+\%B_\%d_\%Y'`.log

50 23 23,28-31 * * cp -v logs/access.log xxx/access_`date
50 23 23,28-31 * * cp -v logs/error.log xxx/error_`date '+\%B_\%d_\%Y'`.log
57 23 23,28-31 * * chmod 600 xxx/*.log

Can anyone tell me where the output is being sent? How to track down this
problem and correct it?
