Lenovo/IBM Thinkpad X41: external USB2 DVD drives as useful as those in dock?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
I'm considering getting a Thinkpad X41, but I'm not sure about whether to
get an external DVD drive (with its own power supply, for sure) or go with
a dock which has a built-in drive. The external is cheaper and easier to
move around, the dock is the official piece of kit.
I might stick with a thinkpad which comes with WinXp (and not upgrade to
Vista just yet ;-) ). I'll definitely want to re-partition the harddrive
and install Linux.
What I need to be able to do is boot off CD (to do a Linux install), to
write backup DVD or CDs from Windows and use the drive generally (e.g.
watch DVDs) from Linux.
Any help appreciated
