Shuttle XPC SN27P2 + Mandriva Linux questions?
Hi,
Complete Linux cherry here. Has anyone on the forum here built a
Linux rig using one of those Shuttle XPC SN27P2 bare bone kits they
offer? Do I have to install any of the software they included with
the computer chassis on the CD's to get it to run successfully under
Linux? I was thinking about running (or trying to get) Mandriva Linux
Discovery 2007 to run on one. Thanks for any information you can
offer me about this!

I had a shuttle sn25p and it used to always overheat. The bios wasn't
smart enough to handle kicking up the fan when it got hot, leaving me
with the choice of a system that either howled all the time, or cooked.
I ended up putting it up on ebay.

I built an XPC G2 about 3 years ago. It runs Debian Sid and win2k.
Everything works, including the built-in wifi. The software they
included with mine was for windows only. I used it there (only).

Okay, thanks very much for the info about the included Windows only
software CD's! I sure hope the SN27P2 doesn't have an overheating
problem while running Linux, one of the reasons that interested me
about it was the glowing reviews it got over on a Linux webpage
somewhere by someone who built it specifically for running Linux. =:-(
