Like most USB and PCI modems, the Dynex DX-M300 USB modem is a worthless piece of junk known as a "software" modem. The signal processing is done in a very large proprietary device driver on the host PC, and it's available only for Microsoft Windows 98 through XP. No Linux driver. There is no technological nor legal reason the driver couldn't be ported to Linux, but some misinformed lawyer at Agere (formerly known as Lucent) has been telling all the chip makers the Free Software Foundation would sue them for doing it! "First thing, let's kill all the lawyers."
