  1. Streaming different audio on multiple sound cards simultaneously

    Hi Everyone,

I'm thinking of wiring my house with multiple channels of audio in
each room, and to feed each channel I'd like to stream audio from
multiple audio cards in one Linux box. My server at home is Ubuntu
Server 7.10, but I've never worked with multiple audio cards at the
    same time before.

    Anyone done this ?

    Thanks--

    Alex

Yes. Using Fedora on this machine I had the audio coming out of the
Creative soundblaster, and the skype headphone drive from the
    motherboard audio.

Ubuntu 7.04 was a lot more difficult - it did not really understand
that there were two sound cards. By the time it had turned itsel into
7.10 it was sort of sorted out, but I never did understand the naming
    conventions.

The ALSA web site, and JACK, both understand multple audio cards, and
some of teh specialist multimedia distros have it all working fine.

I've given up, I have a real life somewhere.
