Under Firefox, it takes 3 to 4 seconds to resolve a name.
I also tried dig command:
for example, with www.google.com
with Bind 9.2.4 : query time = 1500 ms
with Bind 9.2.1 : query time = 220 ms
with www.download.com (why not ? ;-))
with Bind 9.2.4 : query time = 2511 ms
with Bind 9.2.1 : query time = 275 ms
