Default Which study date in image header?

In the DICOM standard, should a modality insert the current date/time
into the image header or the scheduled exam date/time from the
modality worklist?

It isn't that simple.

See CP 599 (ftp://medical.nema.org/medical/dicom/final/cp599_ft.pdf).

If there is a Study Date and Time specified in the MWL query response,
it should use those.

If there is no Study Date and Time specified in the MWL query response,
then it should use the current date and time.

It should never use the Scheduled Procedure Step Start Date and
Time)
