Thread: Do you need to use the same AE Title for SCP and SCU for Storage Commitment on different Association

  1. Do you need to use the same AE Title for SCP and SCU for Storage Commitment on different Association

Do you need to use the same AE Title for SCP and SCU for Storage
Commitment on different Association as the original association?

    e.g.

AE SCU with AE title "ABC" request N-ACTION-RQ to SCP with AE Title
    "DEF".

When the SCP sends the N-EVENT-REPORT to the SCU, does it need to send
to the same SCU with AE title "ABC" and also keeps its own calling AE
    Title "DEF"?

Or the SCP can send the N-EVENT-REPORT to SCU with a total different
    AE Title e.g "KKK"???

There statement below from the DICOM Standard, seems to indicate the
SCP must keeps its own calling AE Title as "DEF", but it is not clear
if the SCU AE title (where I am sending the N-EVENT-REPORTS to) must
    be "ABC".

    2. When responding on a different Association, the SCP must use the
same AE Title as it used
on the original Association, because the DICOM Standard defines a
    Service between two peer
applications, each identified by an AE Title. Thus the SCP should be
    consistently identified for
all Associations in the particular instance of the Storage Commitment
    Service.

The reasoning of the note applies to the SCU side as well. I makes
absolutely no sense for the SCP to send the N-EVENT-REPORT to some SCU
other than the one that requested the Storage Commitment.
