  1. Old ACR/NEMA Image Format attribute

    Hi Group,

    I wonder how one should handle the retired attribute 0028,0040 Image
    Format. As I found out via Google, only RECT is a permitted value. I
    came across some MPR secondary capture images with 0028,0040 in their
    headers. They displayed wrongly (horizontally streched) in my
    application. Due to the fact that there were no other aspect ratio
    information available in the headers I presume that RECT means
    something like square, because then the display of the MPR images is
    correct (using width and height as aspect ratio). In case RECT does
    not mean square but rectangular I do not see any sence in that
    attribute, since RECT is the only permitted value.

    Can anyone enlighten me?

    Is there any other attribute that tells me to display the image other
    than 81 x 512 ?

    Mathieu Malaterre found out that pixel spacing of these images is
    wrong:
    it is 2.5\0.62 but should be the other way round 0.62\2.5
    After correction of this attribute, the image displayed ok.

    The image did not provide anything from its private tags to indicate
    that the spacing are indeed interchanged.
    Anyone else knows of any heuristics to find out the ordering of the
    Pixel Spacing ?

    I contacted the vendor about this problem. They told me that this is a
    known bug of an older version of their postprocessing software and is
    already solved.
