Thread: Chamelion Hl7 listener-help needed

  1. Chamelion Hl7 listener-help needed

    Hi all,

    I am currently using chamelion's Hl7 listener, i have my own client
    which i am trying to connect to Chemelion's listener.The listener is
    able to accept the message ,but the listener is not sending back any
    acknowledgement.

    now my questions are.

    1) I am currently sending hl7 message in string format,weather i have
    to send it in any other format.

    2)Weather i have to parse the message before sending to the listener,if
    yes how my message should look or how should i send it in
    pieces(parsed).

    Currently this is how it looks in chamlion's listener.

    connect from chemelion'n client:
    MSH|^~\&|||||||QRY^A19|A000001|P|2.3.1
    QRD|200311111016|D|I|A001|||1^RD|PatientID^FamilyN ame^GivenName^MiddleName|RES|ALL

    sends back below acknowledgeemnt.

    MSH|^~\&|||||||ACK|AA000001|P|2.3.1|
    MSA|AA|A000001|

    Works fine.

    Now with my client

    Listening on port 70
    Accepting connection from 192.168.1.5
    Warning data received from client that was outside of the LLP wrapper.
    MSH|^~\&|||||||QRY^A19|A000001|P|2.3.1
    QRD|200311111016|D|I|A001|||1^RD|PatientID^FamilyN ame^GivenName^MiddleName|RES|ALL

    it never displays Ack message.

    I know this is not hl7 group,but still hope to get answers.

    Thanks.

  2. Re: Chameleon Hl7 listener-help needed

    Hi Neeraj,

    When sending HL7 messages via TCP/IP it is necessary to use the Lower
    Layer Transport Protocol (LLP). The Lower Layer Transport protocol, or
    LLP transport, is the most common mechanism for sending unencrypted HL7
    via TCP/IP over a local area network.

    Information on this can be found in the iNTERFACEWARE product manual
    here:
    http://www.interfaceware.com/manual/transport.html

    Check the sections on the Lower Layer Transport Protocol and Testing
    TCP/IP LLP Connections for information that should assist in
    troubleshooting your implementation.

    Hope this helps,
    Peter
