  1. Editing a Structured Report with Completion Flag set to PARTIAL

    Hi,

In search for the "correct" way to interpret the meaning and use of the
Completion Flag in Structured Report Documents I encountered multiple
discussions on this issue. What I did not find were any (if so)
implications of the Completion Flag on re-opening the SR document for
editing. I have the following questions:

    - In case a DICOM Structured Report Document with the Completion Flag
(0040,A491) set to PARTIAL is saved to file (and potentially is also
send to a PACS), is it ok to just re-open the file, edit the SR content
and save the file again without changing the SOP Instance UID? Or is it
    - regardless of the Completion Flag - always necessary to save new
partial SR Documents with a new SOP Instance UID?
    - If a new PARTIAL or COMPLETE document is based on a PARTIAL document,
is it mandatory to fill the Predecessor Documents Sequence (0040,A360)
with the SOP Instance UID of of the PARTIAL document it is based on?

    Best Regards,
    Marco

You must always change the SOP Instance UID.

Yes, that is the intent. See also CP 585:
