Hello Experts,

Hope the DICOM 2008 Conference Program was a great success. I was
desperate to attend this event, unfortunately engaged in an
implementation.

Our Interest was on compression technologies in DICOM Standard. For
our new product implementation we have decided to use JPEG 2000. After
reviewing the http://medical.nema.org/Dicom/DCS-2008/Abstracts.doc,
there seems to be an talk or poster presentation on "P12 ABO
Compression for Medical Imaging in DICOM". Is ABO a good alternative
for JPEG. The abstract.doc overview shows some improved comparisons
over JPEG 2000.

I am seeking following advise from our experts.

1. Is this technology is recommended than JPEG 2000.
2. Is ABO is DICOM Certified. If not is there a road map for this to
be DICOM certified.
3. Is this standard better than the commonly used compression
standards like JPEG, JPEG LS & JPEG 2000.
4. Are anybody using this currently.

Please suggest...

regards
Samuel
