| Do you still have the default Toshiba CD-ROM in this machine? I have noticed from time to time if you put CD drives in that weren't "DEC approved" that I have ran into weird issues. Also, it pretty much has to be a SCSI CD-ROM, at least that is what I found with installing VMS... maybe True64 is the same way about loading SCSI drivers instead of IDE. | I agree to "must be s DEC approved..". CD-Drive should be identified as an RRD42 or 43, otherwise it won´t boot. I tried with other SCSI CD-Rom drives without success. I always used "set boot_osflags s" from the console to start installation from CD, as this will run in a single user environment. Hope this helps Rainer ad schrieb: > > Hi all, > > I'm the owner of a alphaserver 1000A 4/266 and I try to install tru64... > But i have a problem > > On the SRM prompt : > > >>>boot dka0 > > return : > > "device dka is invalid" > > >>>show device > > return a dka400 device but > > >>>boot dka400 > > return : > > (boot dka400.4.0.2000.0 -flags 0) > failed to open dka400.4.0.2000.0 > > May i have a CD drives problem ... > > How can i see if my CD drive is ready or if it is dead ? > > Thx u and sorry for my bad frenchy language ... |

An RRD45 should be fine for booting and installing Tru64. You mention that you burned the disk from an ISO image, what is the source of your ISO? As far as I'm aware, DEC/Compaq/HP never made Tru64 available as an ISO image. Perhaps you should go back to the original media and try that? I have had problems with copies of Tru64 CD's in the past, especially if I used Windows/PC based copy programs. Adam |
