This is insufficient, the tar still includes the wrong version. Please
    revert it.

You need to remove the other changes also.

the other change is only needed for generating .orig tarballs
and any newly generated should have dabusb from now on.

I did it myself in the meantime.

You ignore the project decision again. It can be changed after it is
    fixed upstream. Stop that.

Th change readded a file, which at least in this form is seen as
undistributable. It would be possible to directly change it in the orig
tarball. I would vote against such a change because of the burden of
    maintenance.

waldi let's speech tacheless you are full of ****.
stop with that stupid circle logic.

if one gets the written consent of the copyright holder that the
license is BSD you have at some point to reintroduce it in the tarball.
There is no point in continuing to stupidly strip it.

    get over it

Unless you are able to provide something substantively to this
    discussion, I declare EOD.

The tarball needs to include the correct licensed version. Also it needs
to check that no copyrightable change from upstream goes in which
    themself will be GPL.

it does not matter if the tarball contains the copyright license
or it is added as debian patch, because not yet upstream merged.
once you have the written consent it is a bsd firmware no point
    in discussing that.

the upstream change questions of new firmware is an independent problem.
