add a session to kdm ? - Debian
This is a discussion on add a session to kdm ? - Debian ; Hi,
I compiled kde 3.5rc1 with konstruct and I seem to be unable to add it
to my existing kdm from kde3.4...
Even grepping for "startkde" through /etc gave no obvious information...

Re: add a session to kdm ?
Add your modified kdm .desktop session file in
$ ls -l /usr/share/xsessions/
total 12
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 3929 2005-11-12 18:59 kde35rc1.desktop
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 3892 2005-10-19 01:17 kde.desktop
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 217 2005-01-29 13:56 xfce42.desktop
cu
By the way. I've been unable to start any of the betas neither the rc1 from3.5.
It gave me an error saying something like
could not find kstartupconfig
any idea?

Thank you!

no sorry, it worked for me... maybe you can try the packages that have
been announced here earlier today. They work for me (apart of a arts
crash which I can live with)

Thanks, I'm installing'em. Time ago tried kubuntu. Nice. Even nicer in
next release I supose. I didn't like some aesthetic customizations and
I missed konqueror usual profile...Downgrading arts related packages
solved arts crashes. Maybe here it applies aswell.

To get rid of the arts crash, you can remove the line
KDE_ENABLE_HIDDEN_VISIBILITY in
konstruct/libs/arts/work/arts-1.5.0/configure.in.in!
Then you can just run 'make -f Makefile.cvs' in the arts directory and then
reconfigure and rebuild arts.

??? We don't build with -fvisibility=hidden, so this won't make a
difference. If you are using konstruct, then you are building KDE without
the Debian patches, so your suggestion is helpful. But for users of Debian
packages, this won't affect anything.
