Thread: graphics card i810 with 1280x800 resolution on etch

  1. graphics card i810 with 1280x800 resolution on etch

    Hi,

I can't get the resolution of my laptop up ok. It's got an Intel card
and is supposed to work with the i810 driver (that's not autodetected).
The X-server runs on the vesa driver, but the image is stretched. It
appears it uses a 4:3 resolution that is stretched to the 16:9 display
    of the laptop.

On replacing 'vesa' with 'i810' in xorg.conf, the laptop crashes on
    restarting x (hard reset).

    Any hints and pointers?

NB: 'sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg' runs all the debconf
    questions, but doesn't update xorg.conf.

    Thanks,
    Tom

  2. Re: graphics card i810 with 1280x800 resolution on etch

Check out the package 915resolution. I have a Dell Inspiron B130, and
was able to use 915resolution to set the display to 1280x800. My
/etc/default/915resolution file can be posted if you like, but the
setup and config is pretty straightforward.

Have you tried getting/using the 915resolution package? It sounds to me
like X may be tickling something that hasn't been set up yet.
