    Hello everyone,

This is a follow up to my post on Sat, 17 Sep 2005 23:29:20 +0100

    Hello Everyone,

Please help me. I have debian installed on my laptop, the unstable
version. I have been trying to get xine working for a long time, but I
never managed. My machine is voyage 64 3200+ A list from Evesham.

The following is the output from dmesg:

    ATAPI device hdc:
Error: Not ready -- (Sense key=0x02)
    Incompatible medium installed -- (asc=0x30, ascq=0x00)
The failed "Read Cd/Dvd Capacity" packet command was:
    "25 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 "

Does anyone know what is wrong with xine, or is it my machine.

    Thanks.

    Larinia

Thanks to everyone who replied this post. Just want to let everyone know
that I have confirmed this error was caused the hardware. After install
xp back, the dvd media was still not recognised. So I sent the laptop
off for repair, and now it play dvd on both xp and debian. I am very
happy about this. So if anyone has the similar problem do check your
hardware as there is no problem with Xine in my case.

    cheers

    larinia

    Hi.
I had a similar trouble trying to record a dvd+r.
    Solved mounting /dev/hdc this way:
    mount /dev/hdc -tudf /cdrom
    instead of the default iso9660.

I did all sorts of fix for mine, but didn't work for me. It was
    definitely hardware issue for me...:-(
