    i am having trouble getting the sound working on a toshiba laptop, i have
    run ALSA with no luck. i would aprishiate suggestions on where to look and
    what else to try, i have had little to no luck finding information on a
    resolution for the toshiba satellite but found several instances of a no
    sound complaint.

    thanks

    start by looking in

    $ cat /proc/asound/cards

    $ lspci

    # lsmod|grep snd

    if you don't understand the output of each command, then post the outputs
    here, one by one
